This one hour seminar deals with the recent changes in the law, on costs, brought about by the introduction of The Legal Services Regulation Act 2015 along with an analysis of the recent case law.
The 2016 Court of Appeal ruling on Sheehan v Corr  IECA 168 (and the pending appeal to the Supreme Court will be analysed. The principles relating to hourly rates, prohibition on percentages and the rules in relation to The Bill of Costs will be assessed.
This lecture will deal with other recent cases such as Kerins v. McGuinness  IEHC 217 , which deals with the exception to costs following the event and Cadden v. Vesey  IESC 75 , which deals with ‘no foal no fee’ arrangements.
