Professional Ethics & Regulation

This one hour lectures deals with some of the recent case law in the area of professional ethics and regulation for Solicitors. The lecture will analyse the cases in terms of the principles set out therein and the consequences of such cases for solicitors. The lecture will assess how solicitors might improve their own practices, taking the dicta set out in the case law into account.

The lecture will cover the following, inter alia:

  • Mallon v. Law Society of Ireland [2017] IEHC 547
  • Sheehan v. The Solicitor Disciplinary Tribunal & ors [2017] IEHC 643
  • Law Society v. Tobin [2016] IECA
