Professional Standards – Solicitors Accounts Regulations – An Update 2023

This lecture covers the latest changes which were introduced in July 2023 in relation to Solicitors Accounts Regulations. It gives an overview of what every solicitor should know in relation to the amendments and highlights the various pitfalls which Solicitors should avoid.

The lecture covers a number of topics, including:

  • Not clearing small balances
  • Inadequate AML/ Not using accounts as a banking facility
  • Lack of adequate description of transactions
  • Delays in lodgements
  • Lack of a register of bank accounts
  • Shortfall in client account
  • Transferring fees too early/ without consent
